How should residents pay dues?
Main difference: Stripe: residents enter their card or bank account here and payment is taken automatically. Manual: you publish the HOAโs bank details; residents must send the payment themselves from their own bank app or by check (this site does not pull from their account).
How it works: Resident enters their card or bank account on the payment screen. Stripe automatically charges or debits their account, no trip to another bank app.
Best for: HOAs that want true online pay (card or ACH) with automatic collection.
ProsHow it works: You publish the HOAโs routing and account number. Residents must send payment themselves from their bankโs website/app or by check. Submitting the form only notifies the board, it does not pull money.
Best for: HOAs that already collect checks/transfers, want no Stripe fees, or do not need automatic collection.
ProsSet up online payments in Stripe
Homeowners cannot pay dues online until a board member completes Stripe Connect for this HOA. You do not need an existing Stripe login, Stripe creates a dedicated account for your association.
HOA bank account (manual)
Residents will see these details when paying by check or bank transfer. Account numbers are encrypted on our servers.
Payout bank (Stripe Connect)
Stripe does not return full account numbers, only bank name, routing number when available, and the last four digits.
